Description

Party perfection! Crispy, oven-baked Tater Tots, loaded with sharp cheddar, savory beef turkey bacon, and a drizzle of Ranch. Skewered for easy dipping! Full instructions and nutrition breakdown inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen Tater Tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 6 slices beef bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Ranch dressing
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or non-stick cooking spray)
  • 1215 (6-inch) wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the frozen Tater Tots with the vegetable oil (or spray the Tots lightly with cooking spray) and spread them in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Step 2: While the Tater Tots are still warm but cool enough to handle, carefully thread 4 to 5 tots onto each wooden skewer. Lay the assembled skewers back onto the baking sheet.
  3. Step 3: Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the Tater Tot skewers. Place the baking sheet back into the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  4. Step 4: Remove the skewers from the oven. Immediately drizzle the melted cheese and Tater Tots with the sour cream or Ranch dressing.
  5. Step 5: Finish the "loading" process by sprinkling the crumbled turkey bacon and fresh chopped chives evenly over all the loaded skewers. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • If prepping ahead, store the plain, crispy tater tot skewers and all toppings separately; assemble and load them just before serving for the very best texture.
  • Don't rush the initial bake; achieving a deep, golden-brown crust on the Tater Tots is crucial, guaranteeing they are sturdy enough to skewer without crumbling.
  • For optimal crispness when reheating, scrape off any heavy toppings, refresh the plain cheesy skewers in an air fryer for 3-5 minutes, and then apply new toppings.
  • These rich, cheesy skewers pair perfectly with a side of homemade guacamole or a chunky salsa if you prefer a fresh, zesty contrast.
