Description

Savor this fiery 30-minute weeknight wonder! Tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and savory egg noodles tossed in an intense spicy garlic sauce. One pan ease meets incredible flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 8 oz dry egg noodles (or ramen noodles)
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha or chili garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Cook the noodles according to package directions, typically boiling until al dente. Drain the noodles immediately and set aside. While the noodles cook, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and Sriracha in a small bowl to create the spicy garlic sauce.
  2. Step 2: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped chicken pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked through and slightly browned. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. Step 3: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the skillet. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and crisp-tender. If the pan seems dry, add a splash of water (about 1 tablespoon) to help steam the broccoli slightly.
  4. Step 4: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the prepared spicy garlic sauce over the chicken and vegetables, stirring continuously for about 1 minute until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the ingredients.
  5. Step 5: Add the drained noodles to the skillet. Toss vigorously with tongs until the noodles, chicken, and broccoli are thoroughly coated in the spicy garlic sauce. Remove from heat immediately and serve the noodle bowls hot.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; for best results, expect the noodles to absorb the remaining sauce as they chill.
  • Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat, adding a small splash of broth or water to refresh the noodles and prevent them from drying out.
  • Finish your noodle bowls with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds or crushed peanuts for an extra layer of crunch and flavor complexity.
  • To achieve the best texture, only cook the spicy garlic sauce (Step 4) until it just thickens, as reducing it too long will result in an overly sticky or salty coating.
