Description
Transform Brussels sprouts into a craveable side! Our recipe combines buttery garlic with oven-roasted perfection for tender-crisp results. Full instructions and nutrition facts included.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Wash and thoroughly dry the Brussels sprouts, then trim the tough ends and cut them in half lengthwise.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Spread them in a single layer on a large baking sheet.
- Step 3: Roast the Brussels sprouts for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are tender-crisp and nicely caramelized.
- Step 4: While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic. Remove from heat.
- Step 5: Once the Brussels sprouts are roasted, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Pour the garlic butter evenly over the hot Brussels sprouts and toss gently to coat. Return to the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Step 6: Remove from oven, transfer to a serving dish, and if desired, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving immediately.
Notes
- Keep any leftover Brussels sprouts fresh by cooling them completely before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, though they are truly best enjoyed warm from the oven.
- To bring back their delicious crispness, reheat leftovers in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) or an air fryer until warmed through and slightly re-crisped, avoiding the microwave which can make them soggy.
- These garlic butter Brussels sprouts make a fantastic savory side dish to roasted chicken, pan-seared salmon, or a hearty steak, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a drizzle of balsamic glaze just before serving can elevate their flavor even more.
- For perfectly crispy sprouts, ensure they are thoroughly dry after washing and spread them in a single layer without overcrowding your baking sheet; this allows them to roast rather than steam, giving you those delightful tender-crisp edges.
